carol 0 Report Share Posted March 27, 2004 Yes, and the AD was me. Just home from a stroke unit in Calgary. Listen up, friends. We put our hearts, minds and souls into our job, and that's a good thing. I just want to remind you to take good care of yourselves first. There is such a thing as giving too much.....last month I had 3 days off, and I make the schedule, so it's because I feel I need to be there for things to happen. I need to learn to delegate, and have the residents do their own thing sometimes. I have strived to build community, and I think I have. While the paramedics were working on me, my group circled around and were praying out loud for me. I was surrounded by love. It doesn't get any better than that! Maybe that's why I am still here. You are right about taking care of ourselves,so often we are so busy talking care of our residents and families that we neglect ourselves.
