Guest Tinki Report Share Posted July 5, 2005 One exercise routine I love is "Light in Lively" you can buy it at www.melodyhousemusic.com for like 10 bucks. You can also get it from Nasco. My residents really loved it, and try Tai Chi and Yoga. Sometimes you just gotta keep trying and selling the activity before it catches on! Wgtkss 0 Report Share Posted July 5, 2005 Some programs that I have used are penny toss, bean bag target, parachute. We also have a exercise class at least 4x's a week which we use a video tape which I ordered and then one of my staff helps lead this or I have volunteers who assist. Good luck Kris
Guest Guest Report Share Posted July 6, 2005 We have discovered that use of props with exercise increases interest. We use a different prop everyday and we do not limit ourselves to the usual things like exercise batons, movement scarves, ribbons, etc. We also have used a collection of hats (residents wave the hat overhead, touch your toes with your hat, etc.) Today we are using a collection of summer fans for 'Fan'tastic Fitness; I bought the fans cheap from Oriental Trading. Staff will cues residents to use the fan as a prop throughout exercise session and those who want to keep the fan at the end of the group will be encouraged to do so. Good Luck!
