Calendars

I am having trouble with the size of my calendar. Family members and residents are complaining that they cannot read the print size. If I make it too big, the program won't allow it to all fit. I need roughly 9 activities per day and enough space to allow that. Right now I'm using Calendar Creator and am planning to try Microsoft Word Calendar. Does anyone have a better program that will fit that many activities and is readable?

Wow, nine activities a day is difficult to fit onto one day on a calendar. I am currently using The Print Shop deluxe. I can fit about 8 lines, and can adjust the spacing in between lines so that I can fit more. I enlarge it to fit onto 11x 17 paper for the residents. There will always be some that can't read it however.

Hey Emily,

I agree that 9 are tough. I use Print Master. You can adjust the text & print size. I do the newsletter w/ calendar, then I take the calendar & blow it up to 11x17 hang in the res. rooms, make extra for those who want to come and get them from act office, family members, volunteers etc. to use at home. I then take the calendar to a office supply place, like Kinko's, have them blow it up as large as possible. This is pretty big & I have one made for each hall/unit & hang these up in those areas. This usually makes everyone happy, they have 3 ways to see the calendar.

Janette,

I would like to speak to you about the The Print Shop Program. I have that and I have tried so hard to use it and I can't fit all my things on the day and have it large enough for the folks to read. Could you please email me your phone number at ACT.Raintree@Healthprime.com

I don't know how long my email will be good cause we have new owners taking over soon. I hope to hear from you.

Emily:

I use a program through Activity Connection.com & I really like it. I can make my calendars to be 8 x 10, 8 x 14 or, 11 x 17. 11 x 17 is the one I use. It's really slick, allows you as much space as you need. You do have to subscribe to the website (yearly fee), but when I compared the fee to how much we use the website & how fast I can type up my calendar, it's worth it. I do believe there is a way to preview the site.

Before this, I used Micro Soft Word & set up "tables" for my calendar, that was very time-consuming, & I had to re-do everything month after month.

Good Luck.

I enlarge my calendars on a copy machine on 11x13 paper. Some resident's still can't see it, but it's better then the 8x10 print. :-)

 Hi , I am New to this site. I tap into www.calendars.net for a good free calendar! You are able to adjust its fonts as you like and it comes out great. However, sometimes you get half way thru it and the connection is lost and you have to start all over. I have been toying with using Publisher. Has anyone used this? Is it any good for a 11by17 newsletter. Thank you

I love Publisher, and I couldn't live without it! I make my calendar on legal sized paper and my copier can blow it up to 11x17. I get 5-7 activities on it a day. (If you can print directly to your copier, then you can just make it in 11x17 though.)

Plus my calendar is two sided, presented like a book with a fold in the middle. The front is a cover, the inside is my calendar and the back is for transportation and things that happen regularly.

Good luck!
