runamukgirlz 0 Report Share Posted January 21, 2005 Hello, our names are Sherry & Emily and we are Activity Directors at an Independent Living Facility with 500 residents in Central Florida. We are looking for new ideas all the time. Currently we would like to start some new classes....any ideas? We now have classes for line dancing, aerobics, computers, square dance and water aerobics. We don't have any luck with craft classes....the residents don't want to pay any extra $$ for stuff.

Guest Guest_Gayle Report Share Posted February 3, 2005 Hi! Do you attend your district meetings of Florida Health Care Activity Coodinator's Association? I'm sure the other directors could help you with ideas. Have you ASKED the residents what they would like? What they have interests in? That would give you some ideas. Are they a social bunch that would like to start or join a "Red Hat" group in your area? Are they interested in helping with quilts for homeless or abused? Making toys or stuffed animals for accident victims? Volunteering at a hospital. area nursing home, reading to school children? Maybe they wold plan and carry out a fundraiser for a non-profit group. You will never convince them to attend an activity they have no interest in do make sure you get their imput. If you need the location of the nearest FHCACA district meeting, e-mail me.
