Hi! My name is Aurora, and I'm new to this forum. I have my BS in Therapeutic Recreation, and am currently pursuing my MS in TR with an emphasis on Research and Teaching.  I've been in this field for my whole life (my mom ran a senior center, so I grew up spending summers with the seniors by request). I now work as the Director of Therapeutic Recreation for a CCRC on Philadelphia's Main Line, providing programming to Skilled Nursing (Short-term and long-term) as well as Personal Care and Memory Support.

In addition to my full-time job and school, I also sit on the board of directors for the New Jersey/Eastern PA TR Association, and sit on the TR Program Advisory Committee for Temple University. For some reason I find it hard to say no to these things and keep making myself busier and busier.  When not doing one of these TR-related activities, I like to spend time crocheting, watching movies, cooking (love trying new recipes), traveling with my fiance, and spending time with my kitty cat.

Hello, my name is Cindy. I am an activity assistant currently taking MEPAP1. I've been in activities for  over 3 years and love it! I worked for a year on the Alzheimers unit and am now on the rehab/nursing care unit. I also have some programming time on the assisted living area. I love the variety of things to do everyday! I can totally see myself involved in this work for the rest of my career.

Outside of work I enjoy gardening, crochet and quilting.

Hi. My name is Steve Melton and I live in Dallas, Texas. Recently, I left teaching after 12 years. I plan on entering the senior care field. I am currently taking MEPAP 1 and also have been volunteering at a couple of senior care facilities. I am doing this for the experience, to see if I like it, and to see what level of care I am best fit. So far, I love working with the residents.

Hi My name is Lisa Monogan and I am taking MEPAP1 060413. I am from the Jersey Shore. I have worked as an activity therapist, administrative coordinator for an art therapy program and for the past 2 years have achieved my new goal to become an a Director of Activity/Adjunct Therapy.  I love being social, baking, decorating cakes, Zumba, and traveling.  I pride myself in my strong work ethic.  I am enjoying this class because the assignments focus on ways to improve the quality of care and overall programming.

Hi, my name is Diana Jacoby and I'm enrolled in the MEPAP 1 course. I live in Eugene, Oregon and am the program coordinator of a social day program for individuals  with early-to-moderate Alzheimer's that consists of the activity program, support groups for care partners and those with memory loss, and Living with Memory Loss 8-week educational series for families living with a memory loss disease.  My program will soon have a new home within a locally owned & operated memory care community that will be expanding their continuum of care to include early and moderate memory loss programs, and adding an adult day health care model to the existing programs.  I'm here to expand my knowledge base as the ADHC is being developed, and eventually be able to teach activities as part of the gerontology program at our community college.
