Guest Guest_Dixie Report Share Posted November 23, 2004 we are moving into the new pioneer program, in which the residents make the choice about their care and dining such as resturant service. Pretty stressful time board worries about money, workers worried if they are going to have to do more than they had to?
lllucas 0 Report Share Posted November 23, 2004 Hi, Dixie! :-) It sounds interesting. We haven't done that and I hope we don't have to do it soon. However, keep us abreast of what's going on. Best wishes, Linda Lucas, AD ;-) http://www.theactivitydirectorsoffice.com
Guest Guest_Dixie Report Share Posted November 24, 2004 This seems to be the thing in Illinois, residents make choice about care-which had us move into primary care, residents make choice at table-all residents on regular diets even diabetics and get to make their choice of food but we are to encourage them with good diet choices. The only concerns is safety issues such as pureed and mechanical soft. Encourages animals and spontantous activity rather than rigid activity calendars........check out pioneernetwork.com for more info
CJackson 0 Report Share Posted November 24, 2004 Hi! I am currently participating in a collabrative with the Texas Medical Foundation on this very subject. The whole idea is to allow the residents more choices in their care, and hopefully allow the staff to create more personal relationships with the residents. It also focuses on creating a better work environment. Every employee should be allowed to make suggestions without fear of admin staff not listening to them. I think as long as the staff can remain open minded about it, this will be a wonderful thing for our residents and facilities. 8-)
