What to look for in a facility

Hi, I am taking a MEPAP 1 class and planning to take MEPAP 2 as well. I was wondering what kinds of things do I look for in a facility when I start job hunting? I am seeing alot of discord between management and Activities at the home where I'm doing my practicum and I don't want to get into that kind of situation with my own job. Any ideas? Joy

Joy, maybe we are in the same class. However, in the facilities is like in any other work environment but don't apply what do you see in that particular facility as a general rule. You should just enjoy what you do and the most important the residents. They'll appreciate you.

Hi Joy. The very first thing to look for, in my opinion, is a facility that TRULY cares about their residents. I mean every aspect of their care. If the residents are happy, well groomed, and all needs are met, then you have a great facility. You can pretty much tell just within the first few minutes of visit what type of facility it is...look at the residents!

I agree. You should look at how the company treats its residents. Take a look at the terms and policies of the company, and it's good if it is licensed
