iloveoldies 1 Report Share Posted November 18, 2010 Hi, My name is Kim, I am a nurse working in an ALF specializing in memory care. I was disappointed with the lack of activities in our facility and began spending my free time making question and answer worksheets for our activity director to use....I started off with "finish the song" and "finish the phrase" and our AD asked if I could make more, because they really loved them...I would go by and hear them singing and laughing and talking about the things they remembered. I ended up with 4 books that are designed exclusively for seniors. Questions and answers focusing on chilhood memories, things they learned in school, sports, politics, entertainers of their generation. (never insulting to their intelligence as other workbooks I have seen.) Even the men, who usually tend to keep to themselves, enjoy testing their knowledge and remembering the good old days. We recently decided to share these books with others who have the challenge of trying to unite all residents in one activity. We have gotten excellent feedback from all over the country...We have been faxing sample questions to facilities and people have been calling and telling us how much the seniors are enjoying them and asking us to send the books as fast as possible. One AD phoned and told my husband how her residents loved the songs and began singing the songs to my husband!
