Jan207HC 0 Report Share Posted March 31, 2009 (edited) Hi. I am new here, and trying to post a question. Not sure if I am doing this correctly. I can't seem to get back to the page I originally saw before registering. My name is Jan. This looks like an excellent site and forum to be involved in! I am in a position where I need to get certified, QUICK! I have worked full time as an activity aide for five years, so have at least 8500 Hrs or whatever it works out to. Have already done: activity planning and scheduling, calendars, entertainment scheduling, new resident assessments, and yearly evals, participation logs, etc., etc. I Have never done actual care planning, but am learning from a trusted Director and friend currently. (The place i work at is closing it's doors) I have been offered the Director position at two different brand new facilities, opening in May.....With a Certification!!! AAC, PREFERRABLY ADC. So... I need a quick, cheep, on-line certification that can preferrably be done at a fast pace, and yet accredited/accepted. IS THERE SUCH A THING OUT THERE??? HELP!!! KateAA 0 Report Share Posted March 31, 2009 You could apply for Track 4 if you have 3 of the 5 components...such as Experience, Continuing Education and 12 college credits....you could then apply for ADPC There are four components to NCCAP certification: 1. Academic - The amount of college credits that one has 2. Experience - The amount of hands-on delivery of activities services to the elderly population 3. MEPAP - Completion of the MEPAP Course 4. Continuing Education - Clock hours of continuing education that falls within the NCCAP Body of Knowledge within the past 5 years. You can determine which level you would like to apply for based upon that information. One of the first steps is to contact a MEPAP Course Instructor and sign up for a class. There are many ways including face to face instructors, home study and online. You can find a MEPAP Instructor by going to our web site at www.nccap.org and click on the "MEPAP Course Instructor Listing". You would then contact the instructors to see where and when they will be teaching. Here are the various levels for ADC: Activity Director Certified (ADC) ACTIVITY DIRECTOR CERTIFIED (ADC): One who meets NCCAP standards to direct an activity staff and program. Track 1 A. ACADEMIC EDUCATION Bachelor's Degree (must include an English (A) PLUS 7 other courses with at least one course from B, C, and D of the required coursework areas). ...AND... B. ACTIVITY EXPERIENCE 4,000 hours within past 5 years. ...AND... C. CONTINUING EDUCATION 30 clock hours (Body of Knowledge) within past 5 years. ...AND... D. MEPAP Modular Education Program for Activity Professionals (MEPAP). Track 2 A. ACADEMIC EDUCATION Associates Degree (including English PLUS 5 other courses, with at least 1 course from B, C, and D of the coursework areas). ...AND... B. ACTIVITY EXPERIENCE 6,000 hours within past 5 years. ...AND... C. CONTINUING EDUCATION 30 clock hours (Body of Knowledge) within past 5 years. D. MEPAP Modular Education Program for Activity Professionals (MEPAP). Track 3 A. ACADEMIC EDUCATION 60 college semester credits (must include English PLUS 5 other courses, with at least 1 course from B, C, and D of the required coursework areas). ...AND... Track 4 You can apply for Track 4 if you have 3 of the 5 components. So if you are missing the MEPAP class, but have the other three components, then you can apply for ADPC. Upon completion of the MEPAP you can then apply for a level change. A. ACADEMIC EDUCATION 1. 90-Hour Modular Education Program for Activity Professionals Part 1 (C.C.1-11) and the 90-Hour Practicum (Basic Education Course). * 2. 90-Hour Modular Education Program for Activity Professionals Part 2 (C.C.12-20) and 90-Hour Practicum (Advanced Management Course). * 3. 12 semester college credits (cannot include #1 and #2 (must include an English PLUS 1 other required coursework area)). ...AND... B. ACTIVITY EXPERIENCE 4. 6,000 hours activity experience within the past 5 years. ...AND... C. CONTINUING EDUCATION 30 clock hours (Body of Knowledge) within past 5 years. * MEPAP 2nd Edition is core content 1-20.
