Can anybody please help me. I have been offered an Activity Director job at a facility where I have worked for the past 5 yrs (not in activities). I recently completed my MEPAP 1 am about to enrol for the MEPAP 2. Would I be able to work as an Activity Diirector whilst doing the MEPAP 2? I am frightened that I may be doing something illegal by signing the assessments. I also work as a weekend activities co-ordinator at another facility in order to gain experience, which I have done for the last 6 months. I previously worked with residents over 55 yrs for about 4 years in Europe. I am hearing so much about having to be certified that I have become very worried incase I am not qualified to do this job. Could somebody please answer my question as I would really love to take this opportunity.

Thanks

Hi

You need to only be certified per the FTAG 249 to work in a facility. Which means by doing the MEPAP 1 course you are OK. Now you do need to take the MEPAP 2 & do the other things required by your state &/or NCCAP.org to get certified. If you aren't certified then you need another dept head (a DON, SW ADON etc) or a Activity Consultant or another ADC to sign off on the chart paperwork. Hope this answers the questiuons you had. Your instructor should be able to answer the questions for you & explain things, I kno wthat it can be really confusing.
