HelenHere 0 Report Share Posted July 12, 2008 Hello Everyone! My name is Helen and I am a resident of Palm Harbor, Florida. I would like to get into the field of Activities/Recreation preferably in a Mid-sized ALF. Can anyone tell me the quickest way to obtain a certificate for the State of Florida as an Activities Assistant. From what I understand, you do not have to have one actually, nor do you have to have formal training. However, I would like to obtain a certificate. Hope to hear from you! Thanx! Helen- the minimum certification is MEPAP I & MEPAP II, you may also contact John Collins Healthcare, look him up online. There is no quick way to obtain certification. MEPAP I & II are seperate classes. John is AWESOME, you'd love him!! There is also an online class to become certified, google it.
Pennie 26 Report Share Posted July 14, 2008 Hi.. below is a post that contains the regulations that state surveyors use.. under the section F249 will be the requirements for certification and qualification pertaining to the Activity Director .. this will be on a federal level that will overview and define the state jurisdiction as it pertains to Florida.. the state will define the regulation more closely , look on the weblinks at www.activitydirector.net for a State Organization for Florida link .. the most important thing to start is to obtain work history in the field and working as a Activity Assistant in a ALF is a perfect place to start! second only to voluteering.. http://activitydirector.net/forum/index.ph...176&hl=ftag Step 2 will be to take an activity training course .. Online Training at www.activitydirector.org http://activitydirector.org/classroom/file...PEnrollPack.pdf Visit NCCAP.org for a complete list of the requirements to become Activity Assistant or Activity Director Qualified and then finally Certified a truely rewarding profession.. good luck Pennie
