happybub 0 Report Share Posted April 26, 2008 hey folks, I am a new Director. I've had my own dept. for a little over 3 months. My aides made it extremely hard for me when I started. The activity dept. was in horrible shape and I was very motivated to implement much needed changes. The director before me was not up to regs and did not supervise her staff. So when I arrived and started to make improvements I heard nothing but complaining and was being disrespected by my staff. I am sick of their attitudes! Two of the old aides quit but there are two left. I am afraid that there bad habits and crap attitudes will influence new hires, hurt my department and continue to cheat my residents of the care that they deserve. When I catch my aides socializing with other staff during scheduled one to ones and activities and they lie to my face and make excuses I get extremely upset. The other day one of the aides brought her child to work the other day and had him in activities. I just hired two new aides who were CNAs from my facility. I need to handle this issue before it tears my dept apart. O' and my director isn't much help! Can you give me any ideas on how to handle these trouble makers. catlover30 0 Report Share Posted April 26, 2008 I personally would approach them and let them understand how it is affecting the center and let them know that you have warned them and the next steps would be either writing them up or talking to HR. They should not disrespect you or be offended after all they are adults and hopefully act like it once they have realize that you will no longer put up with their rudeness... Don't let them win and give up hold your head up high
