12th Night Celebration

January 5th

English folklore celebrates the end of Christmas merry making with a 12th night celebration. This tradition marks the end of the of the 12 day winter solstice celebration with a toast, among family and friends, from the Wassil Bowl.

Wassil means to "Be in Good Health" and is also adapted to name the spiced ale beverage used in customary toast.

Wassil Receipe

In a large brew type coffee make brew the following mixture and serve hot.

  • ½ gallon Apple Juice or Cider

To the brew basket add the following:

  • 5 whole cloves
  • 5 Cinnimon Sticks
  • 1 bag of Red Hot Candies
  • 1 whole orange quartered

This hot spiced apple Wassil makes a great cold night beverage. Makes a great anytime beverage for a late evening activity or for a host beverage during a guest visitation or get-together
