This tradition marks the end of the of the 12 day winter solstice celebration with a toast, among family and friends, from the Wassil Bowl. Wassil means to "Be in Good Health" and is also adapted to name the spiced ale beverage used in customary toast. Wassil Receipe In a large brew type coffee make brew the following mixture and serve hot. ½ gallon Apple Juice or Cider To the brew basket add the following: 5 whole cloves 5 Cinnimon Sticks 1 bag of Red Hot Candies 1 whole orange quartered This hot spiced apple Wassil makes a great cold night beverage.
