In this business we often have to care for the families as well as the resident and this makes it very difficult. It is hard to tell a family member that moms dementia will most likely get worse. I think some families feel a loss of control almost as much as the resident does, especially those who are very close to their family member. Alot of what they are going through is a lack of knowledge of what is happening to mom or dad and not wanting to accept the inevitable. But of course, thats the social worker in me talking.
