Dear Directors:

are there any experienced ones that can help me with ideas for the olympic weeks besides an opening ceremony or closing ceremony party?

Freemont,

There have been a few posts on this thruoghout the website. All very good ideas. Read through them if you haven't yet.

See if you can find a video on Greece, or earlier Olympics to show them.

Have the residents do "Olympic Trials" before the event.

For a Service Project - make name tags, or something "special" with the residents who are not going to participate. If they make something, they can feel involved. Maybe Pom Poms for your "cheering" section.

See if you can get a local Girl or Boy Scout troop to participate with you during the week.

Also, besides giving medals, everyone received a certificate for participation. That way every one seemed to feel as if they won.

Hi fremontca

We are doing Olympics at our facility. We are having a javelin throw, using the small foam oval ball with wings. Basketball, using a large material ball and 3 laundry baskets- number each baskets and place in sequence. DIscuss with frisbee, make a few lines with each line representing a certain distance. We are also having a handbag hurling for the ladies. Hope these ideas are of some help.

Marian
