Mds 3.0

Hi. Does anyone have any info about the new version of the MDS that is supposed to be coming out later this year? I have seen a draft of it, the activity section is very different, a lot like the current MDS's social services sections. Does anyone know how they are moving along on completing it or what the activity section will actually look like? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks, Kerrie.

Kerrie,

It has been rumored for years that the Activities program and the usefulness of activities has been on the minds of State Surveyors for years. WHile I have not heard of the new version of the MDS (and frankly don't look forward to the idea) I do know that State is concentrating more on what we do in the facility, not just the cleanliness and the care.

The changes that you see are problably a reflection of this and hopefully changes from the old MDS, which I think is too vague in the first place.

Hello everyone,

My name is Tim and I live in MS. I have gone to several workshops in the past year presented by Ms Cat Selman. She actually is involved with the development of the new MDS Section N. I went to a workshop last month and her lastest report was that it was currently on hold with more possible revisions coming to it. I have taken the liberty to enclose her business name in the posting which is called Healthcare Communicators. She travels around the country providing workshops for AD's. Additionally she trains the state and federal surveyors on what to look at during their inspections concerning activity areas. I have lost her card with her email address on it but I believe she will respond to any questions anyone may have about this topic. As I stated she travels alot and it may take her a while to get back to you.

Good luck and if anyone here's of job posting in eastern texas please let me know.

Tim
