:-) Hi, I have just gotten my Activities Directors Certification and plan to tour Assisted Living Facilities presenting a "one woman show" depicting life from different era's such as Victorian, Edwardian, Roaring 20', Turbulant 30's, The War Years and the 1950's.

I utilizes Vintage clothing along with household artifacts, songs, historical facts and household tidbits, to help residents reminise.

I would appreciate any advice you may have as to where I can promote this lecture.

I originally was going to work at a facility but the teacher who certified me said , after she saw my presentation, that it would be better to take it to different facilities as it helps residents remember things from their past.

Hi! Sounds like you've worked hard at this! Wish I could see it!

Where are you? That helps with how you can get started!

Did you intend to start the "one woman show" when you got certified to be an activity director? Do you plan on charging facilities for this show? Have you performed it already for facilities? Have you thought about going through with getting an activity position and then taking your show out into other facilities as extra money? And in the facility you work at, you may earn more pay for being able to provide an activity on the spur of the moment! You can also get a position at a facility and charge an "entrance" fee for a family night to earn extra activty money!

Possibilities are endless!

 Hi Linda,

Your one woman show sounds fun! I know that If you were to approach me with this idea I would hire you for a try at my facility!

You should make up a video of one of your shows(just a sample of the show) and start with all the Activity Directors in your area, send out fliers about your show and your price range and maybe in the begining offer Directors a sample, shorter verson of your show(?)for free and when you do that word will get around and you'll have a hit !!!!

Keep us updated on your progress and if you are ever in Calif.or soon Arizona look me up !!

Have fun!!! :-P

P.S.- If you would like to promote your show on my web sites let me know-

e-mail me :crazee_g@activitydirector.com.

I have done similar shows for "The Yesteryear Festival" at the Ventura Museum of Natural History and I also did the Oxnard Centennial Parade, by costuming participants in period correct ooutfits.

To go out with the "one woman " presentation is $150.00. It last about 1 hour and is a hands on presentation, where I bring in hats and other apparel for the ladies to wear and feel. I go out in a period correct costume, such as Victorian, and bring the big hats for the ladies to wear. I call this presentation "The Victorian Tea". I usually ask that the facility provides Scones and Tea and maybe Cucumber sandwiches (with the crust removed , of course, as that is how they were made in Victorian times).

To just walk around in a Vintage outfit, during lunch or dinner, and describe it, would be approx. $50.00, depending where you are located.

I am in Ventura County.

You can reach me at my e-mail address : Lindybebe@msn.com

Thanks :-)

Hi again Linda,

Wow,$150.00 thats great if you can get it.To be honest with you, thats a bit steep for me,I usually pay about $45 - $50.00 for an hour of entertainment and I know that this is pretty much the norm as you can read on different posts on this site, most of the facilities that we all work at have :-? VERY LIMITED funds. But good luck to you and have fun !! :-D

:-D Hi,

Thanks for all the suggestions. I now have a flyer I can mail to you or can send it to you as an attachment, just send me your e-mail address.

The only way I can afford to drop my prices for a shortened show , is if I can get 2 or 3 facilities to do in one day, provided they were close to each other (within 5 miles or so). Then I could possible do it for $75.00 each.(3)

This would be an introductory program to demonstrate what I can do, then if you liked it I could return to do another Era.

I can also hold classes on making a very simple Renaissance or Medieval costume. This could be done in a one day seminar or over a month (once a week more expensive). Of course, everything depends on where you are located and if I can do more than one facility in a day.

Thanks again,

Linda
