margowilson 0 Report Share Posted October 24, 2006 I need some HELP...In the past, I was an Activities Director for a total of 8 years in an independent facility in Jacksonville, FL. I never became certified; although, I did attend various classes over the years. I am now seeking certification, so that I may seek a position in any level of senior care: independent, assisted living, or skilled nursing. Guest Guest Report Share Posted October 29, 2006 Hi I am not sure how it works in FL but in TX you need to take MEPAP 1 course & you are then "qualitified" to work in activities. If you take the MEPAP 11 course & take the State Exam then your are "certified" in the state of TX. Look either at the home page of this site for FL or NCCAP.org under Instructors & get their email address or phone number & call him/her. They should be able to answer all of your questions & guide you as to the regs for your State. Also in TX you do not have to be "qualitified" or "certified" to work in AL I am no tsure about Adult Day Care but I don't think so. It should be rather easy to get info. on this, if all else fails call any facility in your area & speak to an AD there. Good Luck
bigchris 1 Report Share Posted October 31, 2006 Check with your local NH agency or association. They should be able to give you a hand.
