  1. Hi There, I am looking for a program that will help me make up my calendars on the computer. I need a new one and I have tried a trial version of Creative Forecasting that would be fine, but it doesn't allow you to change the font type or size, (or even clip art and no way to import your own clip art) which is important for me, because I can't afford to make color calendars where I work and rely on fonts to make certain activities stand out! I think the old program was PrintmasterGold from years ago (too old to get phone or website tech help!) and when I try to use it, it just keeps saying "program in use", then it clicks back off. REALLY frustrating...so I need to get a new one. I would appreciate any input you all out there could give me. Thanks, Linda :-)
  2. Hi Mary I had a rough day last week when I didn't know how I was going to learn the paper work aspect. The social service lady used to do both that job and activities-can you imagine how hard that must have been?!! She is showing me the ropes now. And I seem to be having difficulty finding the time to go through their cupboard to find out what is avialable for me to use. I am thinking that I might have to come in on my day off to get things organized. My boss was on vacation last week and nobody could get the printmaster program going, so I had to make the Sept. Calendar at home using excel. Really stressed me out! I guess you guys have been there! Right now I'm, sharing a computer with social services and it's kind of a pain. I wonder if I can get a laptop (I've been wanting one for years now) and get my boss to let me use it. What do you guys think? To complicate matters, they are getting ready to start the process of remodeling (which is great for the residents and building!), but hard for me to know what I will end up doing with things. Plus the calendar activities are at a minimum through September while I get my bearings. I can only do my best and hope that things work out. Did you find the transition from assistant to director very difficult? I have to admit I'm trying to get used to knowing that as far as my dept. goes, I get to make the decisions. After the last boss I had, I love that it's just me! Linda
  3. Hi, I am new to this site and can't tell if you got a response from anyone, so I thought I'd put my two cents in! You didn't say what you've been doing so far. For a start, you could try going to some craft shops to look for your borders and you could look on your computer for clip art to print out. I have used flowers (fake). I've seen one in a dinning room that was done with two prints of fabric (one as a background & the other as a border)- it matched the homemade tablecloths & table runners. I feel like as far as bulletin boards go, experiment. But remember, there is a fine line between a nicely done board & a cluttered one! I hope this helps you & is not coming too late. Linda ;-)
  4. Hi Pennie, You're right, I do want to go that extra mile to show that I am worth them hiring me! I think I get impatient with myself... I just completed my second day of work and am learning to ask for information that I need to know. So far, so good. I will definately keep checking out this site and contribute all I can to it in the future :-) Thanks, Linda
  5. Hi, my name is Linda. I just got a job as Act. Dir. that I start tomorrow at a 45 capacity nursing home with no alzhiemers residents, which is where most of my experience lies. I have had over two years experience as an Assistant and am really phyched to be the Director now! I will not have any assistants though. I'm hoping I can talk them into getting me a part-time assistant after a while though. I'm glad I found this site...
