I've been an AD for ten years and have learned that the web is your friend. I love planning themed weeks throughout the year and they are usually based on the interests on the residents. For example, I had a Civil War Days week planned for my residents for the 150th civil war anniversary. I had trivia like, name the general, famous Lincoln quotes, etc. I invited a speaker to talk about how the civil war effected out local area in WNY. Also, check out monthly special days throughout the month to get ideas. If it's dill pickle day, have a dill pickle social or do a pass the pickle game. Yes, some ideas flop but others turn out well and the residents have alot of fun. Be creative!

Hello: I'm an AD that plans many special events throughout the year. My upcoming event is our family high tea. This is done in conjunction with the dietary department where we invite family members to partake in our high tea luncheon that consists mainly of tea sandwiches, soup, salad and fancy desserts. Anybody have a similar special event they plan? Does anyone have any ideas for entertainment or something I could do differently to freshen up an annual event?

My administrator is pushing for evening programs due to staff wanting it . The problem is that we don't get alot of residents to make it feasible to hire another staff person. Does anyone have any ideas for exciting evening programs? We already do casino night and happy hour at night.
