Connie48 0 Report Share Posted February 8, 2016 Hello Everyone, My name is Connie and I am in training in MEPAP1. I have always been activities oriented whether it be at church with the 60+ group or director of the Vacation Bible School crafts. It has come easily for me. I have a 16 year old autistic son which helps me relate to having patience with the elderly especially in the Senior Behavioral Unit that I work in right now as the AD. We are a small 12 bed unit in Mena, AR. We are in the southwestern part of the state. We get patients from the 60-90 mile radius. I love what I do. I have always been interested in being an AD, but other things came up. We are connected to a hospital wing and I just so happened to see a job opening for SBH and called the director who happened to be on the Special Olympics board with me. She thought I would be excellent at this. I must say i feel great to do what I do trying to make a difference. Love my job! However, I must say my job description is somewhat different then the AD in a nursing home facility. I believe the nursing home AD has much more paperwork to do than I do.
