Guest Guest_Kelly Report Share Posted December 13, 2004 Hi, I am in a new role here in my community and I service both IL & AL residents. The last Director was fired due to lack of programming. I was in a Marketing position here and transfer to this new job along with being 8 1/2 months pregnant. I lost my assistant and have been all by myself for over 1 month. My Resident Director is not listening to me and only is focusing on the negatives that residents and some staff are telling her. I now have an assistant that just started 2 days ago, but I'm at a lose to as to how to WIN over residents. I'm hoping for some suggestions. Lost In Kankakee!! Brennatori 0 Report Share Posted December 14, 2004 Hang in there!! I basically am in the same postion only I have residents telling me to my face that they hate me. The only thing that I would advise is to do the best that you can and chart problems, that way you can refer to the charting if you need to. Stay in there. If your residents and administrator are focusing on the negative hold an emergency resident council meeting or at least a resident meeting. Have your administrator attend as well. This way you can get positive and negative input from your residents. Also focus on the positives you receive. Like if you get a comment like, I love outings, then ask why the resident loves the outings where they want to go etc. I hope it works out.
