Mponce 0 Report Share Posted December 27, 2010 Hello, My name is Melissa Ponce, I am not new to the site, but I am new to the discussion area. I have been reading many posts for months, so I am excited to be apart of the discussion area. I work in Richmond, Virginia, at the Masonic Home of Virginia, and am the activities facilitator in the care center unit. I am excited with the cuture change in healthcare and I am soon to graduate with a B.S. in healthcare management. I have been promoting the "I" Care Plan at my facility and recently became certified in Dementia Care Mapping. If anyone is interested, there will be another course in March 2011, I can send some info. My email where we can network is gb1stlady@aol.com. Thanks and I look forward to networking with you all :-)

I am about to take the online MEPAP class after having been a Kindergarten teacher for 11 years in AZ. I have a question for you, is it possible to be an Activity Director with a BA in Education? I also have experience volunteering with HOSPICE at assited living facilities and wondered if that would be enough to get an AD job. Thanks for your input:) Edited December 30, 2010 by HollyinIdaho2

wifssw 0 Report Share Posted January 5, 2011 Hello my name is Sharon Wilson. I live in Roanoke VA. I am currently taking the required course to be state certified as an activities director. I have worked for the last 5 years as an assistant, but want to move up to a director. I am hoping becoming state certified will help with that. I love working with the residents. It doesn't take long before you feel like you are one big family.
