emrob23 0 Report Share Posted September 30, 2010 Hi everyone! My name is Emily and I am the Activity Director at a Nursing Home, Orchard Manor, in western Pennsylvania! Orchard Manor is a 120 bed skilled facility with a 23 bed alzheimer unit, and a 12 bed personal care unit. When I started working at Orchard Manor, I was the Afternoon Activity Supervisor of the alzheimer unit. As time went on, the facilty faced many changes in the activity department, which in the end, led me to be the Activity Director! I am currently completing MEPAP part II with Kathy Hughes and it's a great way to network with other activity professionals, share ideas, and express the stressors with one another that the job may bring. It's great to be a part of this website and I look forward to hearing lots of new ideas, suggestions, and forums in general!
2ndchildhood 0 Report Share Posted October 2, 2010 Hi - My name is Pat and I've been a volunteer at a senior care facility for 3 years. I do an arts and crafts group every week. I also present at conferences on the importance of creative activities and do a hands-on workshop sharing ideas and projects. At the urging of workshop participants I've come out with my first book of twelve projects "Second Childhood Creations, Creative Activities for Happy Hearts and Happy Hands." Book two of twelve more projects will be out in about 2 weeks. As one of our resident's daughter said, "This is a great book. Anyone could do these projects." I call my projects resident tested and volunteer friendly. My company is Second Childhood Creations. Would love to assist and support your activity programs.
