hurst1965 0 Report Share Posted September 26, 2010 (edited) Hello Everyone, Got the news that I need to plan outings once a week for the residents, sounds like fun! However I am limited on the places that we can go due to wheelchairs and walkers. If you have ideas that you could think of, please let me know. Thanks, hurst1965 Edited September 26, 2010 by hurst1965
Moakey 0 Report Share Posted September 27, 2010 The easiest way to plan outings for residents is to look at it from your perspective, what would you enjoy doing. Combine that with how much time you have for an outing, etc. Remember most places are handicap accessible. We have 115 residents, my goal is to get them out once a month. I keep track of numbers for each to be sure everyone is being treated fairly. Here are ideas we have used for outings: Early morning breakfast (McD's or BK) and a stop at the Dollar Store Dunkin Donuts Autumn Foliage ride with a snack stopping for either ice cream, cider, donuts, shake Lunches (Chinese, Pizza, Subs) Pontooning Big Apple Circus Disney on Ice Trip to a lake or beach Hunting for pumpkins (lighted) Local live theatre (plays) Bowling Petting Zoo Museum Hot Air Balloon lift off Any kind of shopping We rent a nearby cabin on the lake for a week - that's five days worth of trips - all day Looking at Christmas lights Scenic Bingo Fishing Geo Caching Recycling Trips Community Service Trips - tasks Hope these help you out.
