dlak 0 Report Share Posted July 29, 2010 Greetings Everyone! I am a children's author and have just written a picture book called, "Say Hello, Lily," about a little girl who goes to volunteer at a senior campus with her mother, but once there is too shy to say hello to anyone! After several weeks of hiding behind her mother, Lily arrives at Shalom House one day when May birthdays are being celebrated and realizes that she shares something special with the residents. The book is beautifully illustrated and highlights the magical relationship that young and old can have once they make a connection. I am doing intergenerational programs with the book at schools, assisted living facilities, senior centers--- Here is a link to my publisher- http://www.karben.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=405 I wrote it after moving my own mother into senior housing and seeing how difficult it was for my young daughter to feel comfortable there. Also, as a mom of five, I have attended many preschool visits to senior residences and often felt that it would've been helpful to have read a book to prepare them before the visit. Feel free to contact me a Sayhellolily@gmail.com. Thanks! Deborah Lakritz
GinaMichelle 0 Report Share Posted May 4, 2011 What a great idea for a book, I know this will be helpful to parents who are trying to prepare their children about what to expect before visiting a nursing home.
