Chet 0 Report Share Posted March 29, 2009 Hello, I am new to programming. I work in an assisted living facility. There are only 5 men out of 55 residents. It is hard to get the men together. I offer a men's club once a month ran by a veteran in his late 50's. I feel as if the men are bored and so is the volunteer. My idea is to have a horse race that is taped. Let the men put bets on horses with pretend money, maybe have a prize for the one with the most money or just bet for fun. Has anyone tried this? thanks, Kori

angelaj 0 Report Share Posted March 31, 2009 I work an Adult Day Program and we do this with our members each year for Derby Day. You can probably find a movie like this at the Library. Then I print off sheets with each horses name/number and they mark the box of the horse they think is going to win. We sometimes serve non-aloholic beer and pretzel or chips to the men too. This event definitely has to have someone exciting to lead it. If the leader isn't excited, the men won't be. Hope this helps.
