DjHAWKY 0 Report Share Posted August 27, 2008 I was moving to Texas... This is how it was explained to me when I asked about the becoming Texas Certified as opposed to being Nationally Certified.. hope this is useful to you.. Good Luck DJ Hi DJ, The state of Texas has approved both Certifications.. the one issued by NCCAP.org and also the one issued by CTRACTX.org. So it is your choice..The NCCAP Certification is accepted Nationally and the CTRAC is Texas only.. If you were Texas only and moved to California, you would need to upgrade your certificate to National in order to be fully recognized in CA. You can use the same courses but you would need to reApply and register all of your credentials with NCCAP to satisfy California. There are two levels to becoming AD Certified, first you must become Qualified by taking a Basic Course, either the Texas Basic or the MEPAP 1, being qualified will then allow you to work in the industry and accumulate work experience needed for full certification. Look on NCCAP.org and CTRACTX.org for the levels of certification. On these sites is the exact requirements to becoming fully Certified. You can be both.. Your Name, TXC/ADC. The determining factor for most is the Practicum part of the courses, this is your fieldwork, practical experience tasks performed in conjunction with the written portion. This must be done at a elderly Heatlhcare Facility and overseen by a supervisor. You will perform tasks each week to meet an objective, write a summary, document your time and have your supervisor sign off on your completion. The determining factor is the supervisor.. for the Texas Courses, the supervisor must be a Certified AD with either a NCCAP or a CTRAC Certificate, it must be issued by one of these Associations and registered and up to date... for MEPAP courses the supervisor can be a Certified AD or a Dept. Head that has been employeed with the Heatlhcare facility for a consecutive 2 yrs. . There are other differences in becoming fully certified with either assoc. .. CTRAC requires you to have 12 college credit hours, one class being english and one being within their body of knowledge. You will need to either have this from previous college or you can obtain the college credits within 3yrs after you become Certified. NCCAP is basically the same but you need the college credits before you become Certified. Both allow you 5yrs to complete the tasks to become fully certified .. moving up from qualified.
