allisonadww 0 Report Share Posted May 4, 2008 I am beginning to plan an inservice for my facility. I would like to inservice the nursing assistants on the importance of activities. I want them to understand how difficult it is to get residents down to activities without their full support and to also realize that activities are not just fun and games - that they are therapeutic. Does anyone know of some links that would be good for me to read or have any ideas to suggest to me? I would appreciate your help. Thank you! elisabeth 0 Report Share Posted May 18, 2008 There is a book and DVD set called "Creating Moments of Joy" that is absolutely phenomenal in showing how important activities are and how vital it is to treat each resident as an individual. The DVD's are a presentation by the author of the book - it is done in sections so you can pick and choose what you want to show based upon what your needs are. There is also valuable material for family members and how they can relate to their loved ones. Sorry, I don't recall the name of the author . . . I'm sure you can find it out there somewhere. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
