KateAA 0 Report Share Posted November 5, 2007 At our Annual Christmas Party we have Santa come and he distributes gifts to all of those who attend. BUT they cannot open their gifts until after Santa leaves. Then we play "Let's Make a Holiday Deal". Residents get to choose to eaither keep their gift, or trade for the numerous boxes that decorate the room. After they trade then they can open their gift. Now we do wrap the gifts in all sorts of boxes. So that you would want to trade for a BIG box.....but they all contain various $1.00 store items or Bingo Prizes that we had left over. We also decorate using the flameless candles and have a lovely dinner. At the end we play a Bingo game ...keeps everyone there as the grand prize is a basket of lottery tickets and goodies. We also found some neat activities at ActivitiesAssist.com!
sallyf 0 Report Share Posted November 12, 2007 (edited) anyone have any awesome ideas for christmas activities, I'm tired of doing the same old thing, I want to do something that would really knock the socks off everyone. Specifically the holiday party, I'm fine with the group activities. THANKS!! We host a Christmas gift Bazaar and invite people from the community to come and set up a booth in one of our dining rooms, the residents have their own table stocked with craft items they have made throughout the year. We don't charge anything for a booth but ask if they had a good day to please put a donation in our Christmas Box and we usually do pretty good with this. We also make dolls and stuffed toys and set out a big box for food donations which we then take to our community food bank. These activities really help improve our residents self esteem knowing they are still able to take an active part in helping others in our town. We host a holiday dessert complete with a musical revue by "The Retired Educators Kitchen Band". We send out invitations to the families of our residents and pack the house for this event. Perhaps you can check with some of your local groups to see if there are any musical groups that would volunteer to come and play for your folks. Hope this helps some, sallyf Edited November 12, 2007 by sallyf
