Guest Guest Report Share Posted December 30, 2006 We have a 40 bed secure dementia unit. We have special programming on that unit that is seperate from our other 3 units. Our programming is more consistent and it is more frequent. For those residents who are appropriate, they are escorted off the unit for large group activities with the rest of the facility such as music programs and socials. Our programming starts at 9am and the last daily program is at 7:30. We are recognized by the Department of Health as having a specialty unit so we do have to complete a seperate TR calendar. We include them in outings specific to that unit as well as with the rest of the facility.
Mandyatscr 0 Report Share Posted January 5, 2007 We have a 30 bed secure unit. We try to bring as many of the residents as possible off the unit as often as possible. We do provide activities to the residents that remain on unit. One of my main goals when I took over was to get the residents out as much as possible because the staff on the secured unit tends to feel that they are the only ones in the building we are here for. Many of our residents in the secure unit however are in the later stages of the diesease process and dont really need that level of care. However the families are comfortable back there and will not allow a room transfer.
