Hi, I am new to being an activity director and am currently going to school in Florida to get my qualifications. I love the work, but never really knew how much the job required. I feel that I have finally found what my purpose is, as I love working with the elderly. I would love to hear from some of you who started this career, later in life. I am 56 years old and a retired federal manager. I have always been interested in health care and did a lot of volunteer pet therapy with the elderly. I am seeking advice on best resources, professional organizations, great internet sites that help with the job. So far, I have found that there are a lot of different ways that folks run an Activities Department. Hope there are some folks from Florida out there who will reply.
