Monthly Calendars

Recommended Posts

Guest Guest_Margi

I have been in some nursing homes that no longer do the large monthly calendars and the individual room calendars. We just had a state survey and the surveyor told me they were not required. She said it is nice that you have them but they are not required. How many of you still do the calendars? The ones that do not do the calendars how do you let the residents know what is going on? Our facility does not like the intercom, they say that this is their home and you do not announce things in ones home. We are in Texas.

We use a daily menu that includes Lunch, Dinner and the next days breakfast.

The days activities, birthdays and a motivational quote.

However, we still use an enlarged calendar and in room calendars as well.

I can't imagine not utilizing one.

I have heard that surveyors are not looking at the calendars, but we do still use the large monthly calendars as well as posting a daily calendar in key places in our facility. Just seems to work that way. I have family members who request montly calendars so they can be sure to attend functions w/ their loved ones. Not sure that I'll ever quit doing the calendars.

I am a surveyor in Colorado. We do require calendars in facilities that serve medicaid residents. It is not a requirement for private pay facilities, although most do have a calendar as a way to make everyone aware of what is happening and upcoming.
