Hi Everyone!

I want to get into the Healthcare field, as an employee. After spending a year volunteering, figuring out what I want to really do, I now know I definitely want to be an Activities Assistant.

Hi!

My name is Jennifer. I've worked in health care for 10 years, I've been employed at my facility for 3 years. I like to  write, paint, and play guitar. My passion is animal rescue. I have 5 foster cats and 3 rescue dogs. My dogs are named Bear, Ratty, and Piper. I love working with animals and the elderly.  I married my husband 3 years ago on my birthday which is in March. My dream is to have my own rescue one day.

It's nice to meet you~

Hi Jennifer,

What state are you from? Did you have prior organizing/planning experience before becoming an activities worker? I'm finding it difficult to get into the field because every employer seems to want people who has experience in planning/organizing events (even to be an entry-level activities assistant!) How hard can it be?

Hi I'm Missy,

I have been in health care since 97'. I worked as a CNA up until November 2012. I am married with 1 son. I currently work with retired Catholic Missionary Sisters. They are a joy to work with. I love doing activities with them. They are so creative and always appreciative. I also have 1 week left for MEPAP1 and am excited to begin part 2 in the fall. The inspiration from all of the other students is remarkable. I look forward to learning new and exciting techniques in Mepap2.

Hi my name is Carly and I'm working as an AD in Bellingham, WA.  They are paying for me to get certified as I learn the job.

I've signed up for and paid for the MEPAP I "go at your own pace" course on activitydirectors.org but I haven't received anything to start the course today.  Is anyone else in this class?  Help??

Thanks!
