Hello Everyone,

I am new to the Activity World.

I am working part-time in the evenings and some weekend at a local nursing home in Germantown, OH. I would love to do this job full time!

Hence, I am currently taking the MEPAP1 class. Plus, I am working in sales where I sell databases to college libraries.

I thought it would be a great idea to proceed in getting certified for my dream job. This way I will be prepared and ready to do the best I can with all that I have learned!

I enjoy seeing all the wonderful ideas on this site. Also, it is nice to keep an eye out for Activity Director jobs in the local Dayton, OH area.

Thanks, Linda Steinmetz

Hello Linda! Like you, I am working on the MEPAP I. I currently work full time in a Health Care setting (have been there for 5 years) coordinating the activities and finally have the opportunity to work on my certification! Feel free to ask any questions if I can be of help with activity ideas for your part-time position. What type of setting do you work in?

Hello!

Thanks for replying to my message.I work in a 50 bed Nursing Home. I truly love the residents. I appreciate you offering to with ideas too! The following statement tells what a typical night is like for me.

I spoke with a lady that saw Pesident Truman, and her husband received a purple heart. I discovered a roller skating king who is now in a wheelchair. I prayed with a lady to feel better. I sang with 4 women in one of their rooms Amazing Grace and they sounded great. I passed out stuffed animals and saw big smiles and people singing to them and naming them. I spoke with a man who would love to eat dinner with Doris Day. I met a woman who is in love with George Washington. Amazing what can happen in 4 hours at a nursing home. So much fun!!

Tell me about your Health Care setting.

I truly want to find a full -ime job in this field at some point... I so look forward to it! :-)
