Christmas Ideas

Recommended Posts

My Administrator doesn't think that Xmas fundraisers are a good idea, but I do! She thinks that there is enough thinks that families are giving money out for that we don't need to do one. Any suggestion on how to convience her that fundraisers are for the good of the activity department and our facility?

The good thing about this fundraiser is you don't have to just ask the family members of the facility. You put flyers up with day care providers and schools- You could ask the family members to ask their co-workers also.

I hope that helps

Hi everyone!! My name is Mance and i've been the Activity Director in Donalsonvill, GA for a little over 2yrs now. I am trying to come up with new December craft idea's for my residents. I only have a handful that are actually able to do crafts and I can't find any fun one's that are easy for my residents that have real bad arthritis. I mean we do alot but my CNA's are good to help us with the jewelry making and crafts that take a little more cordination. I was just wanting to know if antone has some easy ideas for me.

Thanks,

Mance Z.

Hi Mance,

I have alot of residents with arthritis too and one of their

favorite Christmas crafts is to make a huge banner for our dining room.We use a roll of white craft paper and they use Christmas stamps and cookie cutters dipped in paint to make scenes. Each one has their own space to decorate and when it is finished we hang it up and spray it with silver glitter spray. We also use green, red and white fun foam to make snowmen picture frames;they give these as gifts to their families.Hope this helps! :-)

Here is another cute fundraiser from www.activitydirector.com

Beautiful Babies Back

Description : -Do this fun fundraiser with your staff's baby pictures

Instructions :

1. Have employees bring in their baby pictures and then color copy them onto photo paper.

2. Have the residents decorate envelopes and glue the pictures to the envelopes. 3. Then hang the envelopes on the wall by the activity room, receptionist desk, or even a bulletin board.

4. Encourage staff, residents, and family members to put change and bills into the envelope of the most beautiful baby.

5. The top boy & girl win a gift.

6. Plus the money raised can go to the activity department, staff fund, or to a children's charity.

One neat idea I enjoyed doing with my resident's as a craft, is teaching them to serve others. We made/decorated cards/ceramics etc to give to children in hospitals and things like that. I want to get together a community service group (my residents) where we make things each month and go give them to sick people in hospitals and orphanages, other nursing homes and such. I think this gives my resident's a huge sense of SELF WORTH and it gives them MEANING!!!!!
