marimbamike 0 Report Share Posted February 25, 2012 My name is Michael Charles Smith and I play solo classical marimba! I play every thing from Bach to Jazz, and from Ray Charles to Radiohead. I mostly pay special events, but my favorite audiences are seniors at assisted living communities! I have been playing at some assisted living communities in Portland Oregon and always get a wonderful response, but its been hard to get a hold of most activity directors unless I physically hunt them down and show them a video of my playing. I would love any advise on how to reach a greater number of activity directors to market my talents! For me sending me mail via the post office is one of the best way with your web site, cost of an hour, and a few referals would help. OH and if your playing anywhere close where I could come to see you. You have to understanf our days are so busy that though we need your help it is hard to find a moment to stop and listen. It is easier to listen after hours. Maybe offer a free show would help too! . Wish you could share how to tell someone that they sing flat and I am not interested!
