Hello, My name is Marie, I found this site in hopes that I can acquire information on becoming an activities director.

A little about me, I have been in the workforce for 30 years, for the past 11 years I have been the owner/manager of a daycare business, and am currently seeking out a new career. An activities director job has always been in the back of my mind, and it is something I want to pursue now. I am currently attending our local community college and was working on an Associates Degree in Legal Support, but that truly isn't where my heart is, and I want to change my goal. In 2005 I received a Certificate in Office Administration at our local community college. I am a doer/go getter, and just need to figure out the correct path to my goals. I am married, almost 25 years, and we have 2 kids, ages 19 and 21, both in college pursuing carreers in nursing. My husband lost his job in October after working 40 years for a company. So much for employee/employer loyalty. So right now our family is struggling to survive in this economic mess. I am looking forward to asking questions and learning about becoming an activities director.

Hello. My Name is Annie. I live in Terrell Texas and have been an activity therapist for over 30 years. I retired from Terrell State Hospital over 7 years ago and decided to go back to work because I love the field so much. It was not the same. New people, different ideas but none good. I decided to go back to school to become a activity director so I can do different things like I use to do before I retired. I realize now why you should never go back. it's not the same.

Hi, I'm starting as a program assistant this week and I am here to get some ideas for activities. Someday I hope to be an activities director but I am glad to start at the bottom and learn! I taught arts and crafts to kids at camp, and used to work in dietary at a nursing home, but that is the only real related experience I have so far. Thanks for having me.

Things always change we just need to grow with them each facility has its own needs you need to survey your guest and see what they are interested in doing. It is after all centered on their wants and needs. Art and Craft is wonderful especially if you can do a craft cart you can get great response with how to draw events.

 Good Luck!
