AmandaMartin22 0 Report Share Posted September 28, 2009 Hi, my name is Amanda and I just recently became a SNF Activity Director in a 64 bed facitiy in FL. I just decided to include an additional bus trip so our monthly count is 2 trips outside the facility now- per month. On our first one we go out to lunch wherever the residents decide, and I would just like some idea's as to what I can do on the second outing. I know this depends greatly on my area (Lee County, FL) but there must be some general idea's that everyones got as well. Thanks in advance for your suggestions. Like you we go out for lunch. We also go to Walmart, movies, local community theater, at Christmas time we go look at Christmas lights and in the Spring we go look at the Cherry Blossoms(I am in the Washington, D.C. area). Hope this helps

Amanda How about out to the park for maybe a pinic lunch. We do that alot in my facility and the residents enjoy it. We also go out to our local casino for a bit of gambling. Try a spa day at your local career center where they have cosmetology classes sometimes you can get hair cuts and nails done free. Both men and women enjoy this in our facility. Sometimes we just go out for a bus ride and maybe stop for an ice cream. Hope these ideas help some.
aaron 0 Report Share Posted October 1, 2009 I have taken residents to a local Dairy Farm to see how they process cheese and milk. And where it can also be purchased if the residents would like. The farm has a wide variety where they can observe and feed and pet the animals. This activity stimulates also physical activity by moving along in different stations. And can also be used as Pet Therapy.
