Where to purchase a Bowling Game

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have a certain company or place you can purchase a bowling game that would have an automatic pin setup?

The facility that I am working with (for my fieldwork) has a bowling game that the residents love, but you have to have two people to operate the game.

One to set the pins up and send the bowling ball back to the resident and the other person has to get the resident ready for their turn. The problem is that the pins have to be manually set up each time - so besides for the time it takes to set them up each time the lucky person that gets that job is too tired to finish all 10 frames - your constantly bending over and retrieving the pins from all over the floor.

The ball they use is a hard rubber ball and they roll it down a metal frame that is lined up with the pins - more adult like then a child's bowling game would be.

The budget at this facility is almost nothing - so depending on the price i was going to donate it when my class is finished.

Thank you..

Sue

If you find somewhere please let me know also. We found sitting on the floor and risking injury from flying pins or balls easier than the bend ;)

I will for sure -

Hello there,

I use S & S worldwide catalogs. I find that their prices aren't that bad and the quality is good. Read the measurements and weight though. You don't want to get it to small it is very baby like. Get the bigger set. It is also easier for the Residents.

Sue,

I’m not aware of a bowling system that is affordable with automatic pin set up. There are many different bowling games available from S & S Worldwide but none seem to be automatic. You might want to consider adding some type of barrier so that the pins do not scatter as far making the task a little easier.

We have been using our "Dice Bowling" game for years. Maintenance made us an alley that has three sides and is about a foot wide and 18" long. We covered it with green felt. The bowling dice game can be found through NASCO. It is portable and even residents who are unable to participate in regular bowling can and do participate. It is scored exctly like bowling. Many tournaments have been exciting with lots of people participating. We even made it on local TV by challenging our local sports announcers.

Here's the link: http://www.enasco.com/senioractivities/?&a...=dice%20bowling

Enjoy!

I would love to have an automatic bowling game, but alas we don't. However I have found that if you switch the person setting up the pins with the person helping the residents each frame you don't get so tired.

Thanks for the information this will come in handy for our facility.

I think our residents would enjoy the activity

Around Christmas time I saw an automatic small one at Toys r Us, don't know how long it would last but was 89.00. I take my grand children to a place called Hanks Town and they have the small lanes where you throw the ball and it automatically knocks the pins down where the ball hits and leaves the ones standing based on the ball. Have no idea how much these cost , but next time we go I will ask the manager.
