There are so many DVD's out there for us to choose from. We don't have the time to preview them all before showing them to our residents. So this topic is for us to write a review about any DVD's that we have seen & if we think it is appropriate for to show our residents.

I will begin with one that I just watched. It was released on 2/27/07. The movie was Boyton - Beach - Club. This movie is rated R. It is a romantic comedy about "active adults" who celebrates life, love & finding happiness again after age of 60. I liked the movie & thought that the resident's men & women would enjoy it. There were two scenes in it that I thought might have caused the rating to be R, but I do not think they would offend most of our residents as it was done in good a humorous way. No nude or cursing scenes. Has anyone else seen this movie? What was your take on it?

I just wanted to let you all know about the new Reminisce 3-DVD set, the Reiman publication Reminisce and Reminisce Extra (as well as Country, Country Woman) magazines. I ordered it and haven't even shown but 2 segments-gave our group a good hour and a half of terrific discussion!! Usually, during our Reminisce activity, I will bring in my magazine from home, read a segment, ask if others experienced that, but usually they begin before I ask anyway! This time, we used the first DVD and during the segment, I would pause the dvd and we would discuss. There are 3 discs; the first one is shorter than the other two. I will admit, they do show some repetition of photos, but when done over several weeks/months time, it won't be noticed much. This first set is the 1940s, One has The Decade, the next is Our Photos, the third is Our Stories. They interview people on various subjects, such as love, on the homefront, cars, jobs, etc. They include still photos people have sent in, as well as some old home movie clips. Some photos are shown with background music of the times, some with the people talking. Newsreel clips, film stars, commercials, new products. My husband and I watched this before I took it in and it is really worth the $30! This is certainly not anything surveyors would have a problem with as all the discussion would probably occur without a moderator, but since a remote is needed to go to the next segments, it might not be one to use when you are away, unless a staff member would actually check often to see if it needs to be set again. If you're not using Reminisce magazines, you can go online at http://www.reminisce.com/Default.asp?r_d=y

I hope they're planning on the 50s, 60s, 70s, etc. in the future.

Thank you for correcting the information that was released. I recently took the test for certification with NAAPCC and it was a very comprehensive and thorough test. It was not a simple easy test to get you certified. You had to know the information in order to complete and pass. I would recommend this avenue to anyone especially if finances are a struggle for MEPAP I & II. I did purchase the book for long-term care seventh edition and without that I would have struggled.

Celeste is awesome!! Anytime i have a question she gets right back with me and she is very informative. At first I didn't know if i was going to like the new course just for the fact my MEPAP course was the own pace and I work Full time plus have 3 kids. But i am loving it! It is very structured and with due dates I feel like i am holding myself more accountable for completed assignments sooner than later. It has actually been a beneficial change for me.. Thanks so much!!!

Good Evening I wanted to let you know that I had completed mepap 1 and had only a couple weeks left of mepap 2 so I had looked at path 2 and have taken the activities test and passed so just sending in the application. I wanted to thank you for giving all your time to us even while Kathy was ill. It didn't go unnoticed, you was a great support and helpful at ideas or even different ways of changing thoughts to positive while feeling defeated. Thank You Stacey Passa AP-BC
