Hi my name is Rodeshia Rowe. I have only been an activity director for 6months and is needing some assistance with my activities. Hopefully this will help.

Hi Rodeshia,
Try memorystreets question and answer books for seniors. It helps break the ice and will keep your audience interested. We use them all the time at our facility. The website is www.memorystreets.com or give me your e mail or fax # and I will send you free sample pages to try with your residents.
I bought some inexpensive fly swaters at the flea market or dollar store...blow up a balloon and play volleyball. It's fun, they love it! Make sure to play some good music.

Hi my name is nancy i have been a Activity Director and Social Service designee in Indiana since 1994.I currently work on a Dementia Unit. The home has 214 residents and there are 12 Activity Staff members.Very supportive administrator and is a firm beleiver in Activity Dept. As like most homes we have our good days and bad days...but always rememeber every resident is a part of you and you touch their lifes everyday. Activity Directors are blessed to be in this role...because we touch lifes everyday..... and smiles are always free...... :) :rolleyes: :D :)

Hello! I am enrolled in the online course and loving it! I am a CNA at Golden Living in Gloucester MA. I hope to complete these courses and get my Certification as a Activity Director.then 'God Willing' find a job nearby..I feel That is my 'calling'...but my job now, is great experience for the next 'step'☺.I am learning so much from all of you who are already in the field. Thank you.

Hello 'other' Nancy! I wish we lived closer...I hold your beliefs as well about Activities and the position of Activities Directors! I am blessed each day in my present job, hard as it is, as a CNA..but ;looking forward to becoming a AD ...♥
