How many Activity Directors have had a chance to look at the MDS 3.0 rules and information?

You can find a lot of info on the CMS website, but no specific rules for ADs.

We have had so much inservice on this. I truly feel ready to start it other than the raps or should I say CAA which is what they are called now.

I saw the 110min. video at work and then they gave me the form that we are going to be using as a sample to look at.

I went to a conference recently to learn about 3.0. Not sure how I feel about it. Sections N & F are going to be gone. So, basically we're are filling out a more detailed Customary Routin section that already existed.

Has anyone come up with a new form or way to let nursing departments know about the customary routines? In my facility the DON stated we should give this information directly to the RNs to do with it what they will- I was wondering if anyone had any good ideas on this? Thanks!

Our section answers will be determined by the bims(might not be the right letter acronym) score the ss dept will lead off with, also the ss section d will trigger our CAAs Our concern is that the time frame required for submissions will put all of us who have a "interview" at the resident in short time span, they can get resistant and impatient with the "questions" It remains to be seen if it truly is "resident centered". I have really not seen a "here is how you do it "seminar or inservice. Oct 1 is coming fast.................also the residents whose assessments fall both with the MDS 2.0 will also have to have a MDs 3.0 to capture the money...............the way our schedule looks now we have 27 resident assessments that will require both..............oh yeah, the rest of your work still goes on......................not looking forward to the first month or the first Survey under the 3.0

I have seen 3.0 drafts and attended an in-house seminar and CEU session re: 3.0 and have concluded that the line of questioning we use during our resident interview has dramatically changed. Additionally, as where we would have previously used our common sense to know when to utilize a family member/POA to gather demographic and interest related data (i.e. in the case of cognitive deficits, language barriers, or unable to respond) toward completion of the MDS sections; we now have to follow a protocol guided by the 3.0 which gives us step-by-step instructions. So much for free thinking! What I do like is the inclusion of any language barriers present and "preferred language" being given a more prominent place in the 3.0, if I am recalling correctly. Otherwise, it is essentially the same info. that we are gathering to populate our sections on 3.0. I would network with your local ACC toward getting the most recent draft copy to study in advance of Oct.1st.

I worry that if we tell them or even give them a carbon copy that we could stand a chance of a tag due to the fact that write their preference in the careplan, but it is not honored. Would that be activities tag?

I worry about the fact that we have 24 hours to complete the first assessment. I do not work 7 days a week.
