I AM HAVIN MY EASTER PARTY ON THURSDAY THE 9TH. ONLY BECAUSE MY BIRTHDAY IS THE 10TH AND I WANT TO TAKE A VACATION DAY... IS THIS A BAD IDEA? AND ANY IDEAS FOR THE PARTY? I PLAN ON HAVIN AN EGG HUNT ON OUR PATIO BUT I WANT MORE FUN THAN JUST THAT. I THINK THAT WOULD BE KINDA BORING. (= ANY IDEAS WOULD HELP!! THANK YOU.

We have a huge family picnic the Saturday before Easter. After the picnic we have an easter egg hunt for the kids. It's always been a huge success. The best part is that I get to dress up in the bunny costume!

How bout an Easter Parade just prior to the egg hunt? We have done this which allows the residents to be doing something while the eggs are being hid. In the past we have had an Easter Bonnet parade. Residents decorate hats a few days prior to the parade and then get to show off some with prizes given to the best, funniest, wildest etc. Also get the staff involved with making an easter "float" by decorating shoe boxes which the residents can carry...these to can be judged for most original, prettiest,etc. Good Luck

I am doing my Egg Hunt with the Bunny on the 9th as well, just because there is soooo much other stuff going on. I think with certain holidays it is perfectly fine to do the celebrations on another date other than the actual holiday, especially if it is a "family" holiday suchas Easter, Christmas, Hannukah or Thanksgiving.

Just my opinion.

I agree that it's just fine to do your Easter celebrations ahead of time. It also helps to stretch out the fun of the holiday, instead of cramming it all into one day. What do you have planned for the actual day? Do you have an assistant that works weekends, or are weekends just where you leave stuff for the nurses to do with them? In either case, a simple Easter craft would be fun.

I work every weekend (assistant covers Thu and Fri for me to have days off) so this is not an issue, and we have Easter egg decorating planned for Saturday and two different tea parties on Sunday. There is also a family dinner that evening, but Marketing handles those kind of events.

I DONT WORK ON THE WEEKENDS AND I DONT HAVE AN ASSISTANT...ITS JUST ME!! ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY I USUALLY JUST HAVE LAID BACK ACTIVITIES THAT ANOTHER RESIDENT CAN RUN OR WHATEVER... IM NOT EVEN CERTIFIED SO THSI IS ALL REALLY NEW TO ME... I WANNA RENT A BUNNY COSTUME BUT I HAVE A BUDGET...SO I DONT SEE THAT HAPPENIN!! SO FAR I JUST HAVE AN EGG HUNT... BUT I WANT SOMETHIN MORE FUN THAN THAT!!

You could always wear bunny ears and go door to door with a basket of goodies...or even make small Easter baskets for all the residents. I did that last year, but we have twice as many residents now, and since this place is so "upscale" you can't just do anything quick and cheap; it all has to be "Marsh's Edge quality." So I'd have to spend WAY more than I'd like to to make decent looking baskets for all the residents, and more than half would still think they were lame. But if I only made them for the people that I think would like them...then people get jealous. So I'm just not doing them at all this year.

I AM HAVIN AN EGG HUNT BUT I GUESS THE RESIDENTS THAT COULDNT PARTICIPATE I COULD GO DOOR TO DOOR. THAT IS A GOOD IDEA. AND I DO HAVE BUNNY EARS TOO!! YAY.. LOL. AND IF I MADE BASKETS FOR ALL THE RESIDENTS BY ENTIRE BUDGET FOR THE MONTH WOULD BE GONE. BUT ONE OF THE OTHER DEPARTMENT HEADS WAS SAYIN THAT THATS WHAT I NEEDED TO DO.. AND TO RENT A BUNNY COSTUME... I CANT AFFORD THAT!!! THANKS FOR YOUR HELP.

WE ARE ACTUALLY HAVING OUR EASTER PARTY TODAY ALSO, THE ACTIVITY AIDES HAVE HIDDEN SOME PLASTIC EGGS (FILLED WITH CANDY, OTHER ITEMS THEY CAN GIVE TO GRANDCHILDREN, ETC) AROUND THE LOUNGE AND THE UNIT AND AT 1PM THERE WILL BE A EGG HUNT (STAFF'S CHILDREN ARE COMING IN TO ASSIST ALONG WITH RESIDENT CHILDREN/FAMILIES IF THEY WANTED TO COME). RESIDENTS ASSISTED WITH DECORATING. WE ALSO HAD A JAR FILLED WITH JELLY BEANS OUT ALL WEEK AND VOTES WERE PUT IN AS TO HOW MANY IN THE JAR AND THE PRIZE IS A VERY LARGE STUFFED BUNNY (RESIDENTS/FAMILIES/STAFF ALL INVOLVED). WE HAVE A STAFF MEMBER COMING IN DRESSED AS THE EASTER BUNNY TO ASSIST WITH THE ACTIVITIES AND THE RESIDENTS APPEAR TO BE LOOKING FORWARD TO THE DAY. AS MANY OF THEM WILL BE GOING OUT FOR EASTER DAY (SHORT LOA'S OR FAMILIES COMING IN), I THINK DOING SOMETHING PRIOR TO EASTER DAY IS A GREAT IDEA, HAVE FUN... KIMBERLY HENDRICKSON
