Hope someone can help me out. I'm a Activity Director for long term care. We're having a varitiy show staff in residents 6th one in the past 3 yrs. It's allways turns out great. I have never been in it, cause I do all the running around and getting everyone together. But this time me and our medical records lady would like to do something together. Needs to be pretty short. any ideas ? Please Help me out on this one. Talent show August 13.

Hmm...
Not sure what direction to tell you go...
Idea #1) You could pull off a bunch of jokes from the internet and each of you take turns telling one to the audience...Maybe doing a quick joke each in between other acts...then ask the audience for applause to see which of you needs to keep their day job?
Google "jokes"...you'll get a million links...
Idea 2) Each of you imitate a good natured, popular staff member that the residents are familiar with. Maybe use sayings that various employees use all the time...If your Admin is cool with this, that would probably get the biggest laugh, although your DON, head of maintenance, dietary, marketing etc. may also get some laughs...
Good luck...

Some other ideas are:
Dress in TuTu's and do the Swan Lake ballet-- it will be hilarious!
Get a bathtub, shower cap etc- or make one and sing along to Splish Splash I was takin a bath.
Lip sync to a different song.-- do a duet! In high school, We had to do a duet lip sync and my partner and I did Sonny and Cher's I got You Babe. We dressed up like them and had the right facial expressions.
Do a magic show--- and make it funny by messing up a lot.
act out a short skit-- there are lots with just two participants.
Do an abbott and costello routine or something like it.

We had a talent show and the DON and I replicated the old bit from I Love Lucy where she meets Harpo Marx, and does the whole mirror bit. For the 2 of us this was especially funny because she is 5'2 and black and I am a 5'8 1/2 white woman. The residents and staff all howled, and the residents all remembered it from I Love Lucy.
If you want to see the bit...
If its done well, its pretty cute

You can mime to a CD. One of my friends came in and did a comedy song called 'The Streak' for us, all dressed up in Charlie Chaplin costume, the residents loved it!

I have tried to do talent shows in the past and have found that we have a handful of very talented staff and residents and otherwise people resist joining in. We came up with the ideal to do a talent no talent show. This has been a hugh success. We encourage people who are truly talented to share their talent and people like myself who are not to join in as well. The no talent part of the show is where people pick a favorite artist or song and dresses up like that person and lip sings the song and dance and act silly. This is so much fun we had a resident dress up like dolly parton and sing 9 to 5 with ballons in her shirt. Staff members have done group performaces for example last year we did "It's raining men" and we had rain coats and did a group dance it was a ton of fun. When we do big events like this we invite our family members and visitors as well as our residents and staff.
